Animal Tales by Lorene M. Burkhart

The New Way to Learn About Animals — From Behind

When you look behind an animal you see all sorts of tails—fluffy, striped, short, swishy, and scary. Many animals need a tail to function… for balance, locomotion and hanging upside down. Many other animals have no obvious reason for having a tail—it’s just there!

It’s the animals book among animal books featuring 72 animals… their tails and their tales from around the world.

Lorene M. Burkhart’s beautifully illustrated book Animal Tales: It’s All About the Tail is a book of animals with six different types of tails, which animals have them and what, if anything, they do with them. The book includes interactive activities for the parent and child, including a mapping activity for children to match where in the world animals live. There is a fun quiz to help children with reading comprehension.

Animal Tales is appropriate for children up to 8 years old. Each age will learn something different when the book is either read to them or they read it independently. It will become a family reference book for many years to come.
